Join us for two brewery tours in CONNECTICUT plus LUNCH
Saturday, April 27, 2019
RETURN: 5:00 PM
PRICE: $99
We are going to start our tour in Rocky Hill, Connecticut at Still Hill Brewery. This craft brewery started in 2016 and believes that beer should be tasty, fun and satisfying, and come in a variety of styles. At Still Hill Brewery, it’s their job to craft high quality kick-ass beers that deliver on these beliefs, and it’s your job to enjoy them. We’ll find out in their tap room. Together we will spend time on the brewery floor; we’ll check out the ingredients room; and then we’ll proceed to the tasting room where we will learn how to make the perfect pour, evaluate our samples, and take home some tasting tips. We’ll depart for lunch at Chowder Pot IV at 12:45. A Splendid lunch is included; see our menu below. Beverages are on your own here – we’ll have our own private bartender.
Hog River Brewing Co. is a family-run craft brewery and taproom located in Hartford, CT. Here we’ll get four tastings in their awesome new Tap Room. The tasting room is open to the public and designed to offer you an insiders experience. Where else can you see where our beer is made, meet the folks who make it and learn the stories behind each recipe? Visitors can tour the brewery (see Tour Schedule), enjoy our beers, and browse the retail store for some cool merch. You get a four-tasting flight at this stop.
There is a saying that “you have to learn to walk before you can run”, and before you learn to taste a beer like a professional, you will have to learn to pour beer like a professional. It’s a fact that the way a beer is poured has a direct effect on how it tastes. This has to do with the layer of foam at the top of a glass of beer – the “head”. A head can tell you some important things about the beer beneath. In terms of flavor, a full head on a beer will release its aroma or nose, accentuating its complexity on the palate. You will also learn a five-step process of evaluating your beer including visual appraisal, aroma, body, flavor, and final appraisal. Do you think you have what it takes to be a professional beer taster? Join us and find out!
